Please post them here along with comments and chemical/equipment needs
Short Hess’s Lab Lab (not the one from Vonderbrink or Vernier)… each group needs;
Chemicals: 70 mL 1 M HCl, 7-cm Mg strip, 0.50 g MgO, DI water in wash bottle
Equipment: 100-mL beaker, Styrofoam cup, 25-mL graduated cylinder, 250-mL beaker, thermometer/temperature probe, stirring rod, spatula, weighing dish/paper, milligram balance (can be shared by class)
Thanks Dana – I need to check on the MgO tomorrow, but should be OK.
Dana, we have the MgO so we are good to go! As you are the only one to reply, I have you up for the first demo on Monday AM – hope this is OK. It won’t be until after you’ve been here for a couple of hours, so we will have PLENTY of time to get organized and situated – thanks.
Ok, thank you.
Sorry, been out of town for a while. A new demo/lab to me…. Just need a small amount of CuCl2, small piece of Al foil, distilled water, test tube, stirring rod, scoopula, and a test tube holder. I am going from memory but I think that is it. Jeff
Great, thanks Jeff. See you Monday.
Just got the message about the demonstration or lab as well. Materials: some Mg strips, 6 M HCl (or whatever concentration you have), 1000 mL PLASTIC graduated cylinder, 250 ml Erlenmeyer flask, water in a beaker, matches or a lighter, a wooden splint, and goggles.
Thanks Melissa, see you tomorrow.
